About:

Seven years ago, we started a little misunderstood event at a little, run-down venue, with 6 artists and one DJ. Thirteen people showed up and paid to watch us paint live on stage for 5 hours.

No one had any idea what we were doing, and honestly, neither did we. Live art was not as prominent in our SA scene as it is now. There was no formula; we had to create this from scratch.

The more shows we did, the more changes were made. Venues changed, we brought in two promoters to help with booking bands, more artists came in and out, we included themes to our events, etc. Many changes were made, but our mission stayed the same. We pushed to create a whole new art scene in SA. We strived to create a scene where artists could meet with other artists, and paint alongside them. We wanted to make an art scene where artists could learn new techniques and tricks to grow their talent. We hoped local artists could make connections with people looking to show art at their bar, or coffee shop. It’s been seven years and we are very proud of what ARTSLAM! is today, and it is all because of your support. We promise you that we will always be here, and we will continue to change for the better.

We are very excited to announce to you that we will be bringing in three giants in the art world to paint this January!

A long time ago, in a galaxy not too far away… ARTSLAM! hosted a Star Wars themed Live Art event called “ARTSLAM! STRIKES BACK!” That show instantly became one of our favorites thanks to the hundreds of Star Wars art fans who came out to support their local artists!

It was so tough trying to top last year’s crazy 5 year anniversary show with Jim Mahfood and Dave Crosland, but we think we got it! This year we are bringing in, not one, not two but THREE amazing artists to paint live with us!! Who? How about, ALEX PARDEE, SKINNER, & L’AMOUR SUPREME! That’s right, The Butcher Kings themselves and one of Mishka’s top artists will be here in SA to paint the night away with 30 local artists!

We are calling this show the 666 Maximus Erectus for obvious reasons. It is our 6th year bringing live art to the masses, we have 6 awesome local face melting bands, and it is only 6 bucks for all ages!
